Death Valley

Death Valley, the greatest national park in California, 350 X 120 Km of dry desert land interrupted by majestic mountains, amazing geological formations, dry lakes, sand dunes and craters.

We enter slowly into the Valley, after a long trip on the highway. We had to drive into the Mojave desert, the desertic highlands in the east part of southern California.

This is a Joshua's tree, the one on the right, I mean...
And here is Dora on the top of Dantes' Peak.

Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie point was once the  bottom of a lake, where sediments deposited over the million of years. Now  the different layers are exposed by the rain, generatiing this majestic landscape.

The Dry Salt Lakes

this is called "badwater", and if you taste it you will know why.
the salt crust melts every time it rains, and when it dries the salt cristallize it expands and cracks.

And this is Ubehebe Crater.Brand new, only about 1000 years old. It happened when hot magma came in contact with underground water, and then, ka-boom, a nice new attraction for the turists.

And these are the sand dunes. A little Sahara nearby home.
We left our mark here, like the stars in Hollywood.
